Strongest Man competition and much more during Café the Plaza's anniversary month

Café the Plaza in the Renaissance Marketplace will be celebrating its 25^th anniversary with lots of fun and games. The entire month of October will be filled with festivities, ranging from a karaoke contest, amazing discounts, kids' games and a Strongest Man competition. Prizes include airline tickets, gift certificates, trips on the Jolly Pirates boat, bottles of wine and spirits and more. Part of the proceeds of the anniversary month will go towards SABA, the foundation which takes care of Aruba's elderly.

The Strongest Man competition will be an annual event, starting at 6 pm on Thursday, October 6, 2016. Participants, many of whom will be avid Cross Fit athletes, are invited to register for this unique happening, which is not only filled with muscle-defying demonstrations of strength, but also with a quiz. Participants will be invited to climb upon a pole, be harnessed in, and stand on one leg for as long as they can, answering a wide array of questions in the meantime. This part is done after the tractor pulling, tire and barrel running and dead weight lifting on Friday and Saturday evening. On these evenings there will be a DJ & MC on stage. Of the twenty finalists, ten will be invited for the finale, which is held on Sunday, October 9 between 4 and 8 pm. Visitors also get a chance to compete with the `big boys': for AWG. 15,-- they can join the pole-standing during the breaks from 7 – 7.30 and 8.30 – 9 pm.. Their entry fee goes to SABA, so everyone is welcome to pitch their balance- and mental skills. The ‘N Fuzion Band will be playing from 8 – 11 pm on Sunday.

During the first weekend, there will be activities for kids from noon to 6 and an Old-timer show from 3 – 9 pm with a DJ and MC standing by. A shoarma stand with saté and French fries and lots to drink will take care of any hunger or thirst; radio coverage is done by Fresh FM, Cool FM and Power FM, while the main sponsor of Café the Plaza's festivities is Balashi Beer.

The month of October will also see a Scratch & Win raffle with lots of prizes, among them tickets to Miami and Curacao by sponsor Insel Air, crates of Balashi and Chill, gift certificates, a hotel weekend stay and much more. Every AWG. 25,-- or more spent will give you a chance to win. From October 12 – 19 everyone gets 25% discount on their food bill and there is live music every evening of the month. The karaoke event is held for hospitality or café teams or the talented play-back wizzards of the nightlife scene.
