Island Heritage Festival Aruba 2016
After presenting an unprecedented new vibe in Aruba’s festival scene last year, Island Heritage is back on Saturday, 4th of June, 2016. The 2nd edition of the Island Heritage Festival is held at a new venue together with a spectacular line-up including Eva Simons, Gregor Salto and Fight Club as international headliners, while shining the limelight on local deejays and artists.
In many ways Island Heritage Festival exemplifies a boutique festival. The organization holds a tight reign on its principle to maintain a limited scale, in an effort to hold a sharp eye on every detail, to ensure a special all around experience for the visitor, from ambience to decoration.
The main objective is to present a contemporary unique experience, focused on Aruba’s culture, art, and music treasures. Island Heritage collaborates with local artists, not only for the music line up, but also for all the art aspects of the festival, such as the creation of the details from the VIP-section’s furniture by the well-known artisan Cado de Lanoy, and the cocktail special stand by Taki. And of course, the irresistible fresh cold coconut water, which cannot be missed.
The ideology of Island Heritage Festival is of sustainability and environmental protection: the stage is mostly made from ‘up - cycled’ material; cups are ‘bio-degradable’; location has been moved from Eagle Beach, which is one of the hot spots in Aruba where turtles return yearly to lay their eggs, especially since we are in the peak of nesting season, also the daily use of this area is already at its maximum capacity.
The new chosen venue is Bushiri Arena, a beach between ex Bushiri Hotel and Divi Dutch Village. Its advantage being its easy accessibility and its wide spread parking space close by. For the second year, Island Heritage is braced by Heineken as main sponsor, sharing partnerships with Elite, Print Media, JDB Agency, and Starr Agency.
Island Heritage is an independent festival with the objective to evolve on its own with its followers.
Last year's first edition confirmed that Aruba was ready for a completely new and different eclectic ambiance, with an emphasis on all around experience. Instead of last year's 'typical open air festival', this year it is featured as a 'full-on night club on the beach' with a ‘hand crafted’ VIP section.
This year's line up is well balanced between local and international artists. Featuring for the first time, a local band, Datapanik giving a special performance together with Michael Lampe's act, Fellow’. The featured local deejays are: John Rossilow; Nutzbeatz; a premier act by the duo Oscar Booy and Daniville; and MC Samil as main host of the festival. The international line up features Eva Simons, Gregor Salto and Fight Clvb.
Eva Simmons made a global impact with her hit 'Policeman'', which at the moment has more then 57 million views on youtube. She works with A listers including Will.i.am, Afrojack, and Sidney Samson. Gregor Salto, the Dutch DJ and producer well known for his latin house sounds, carries numerous global hits on his name, among them ‘Can’t Stop Playing’, which also will be featured in the Island Heritage Festival. Gregor Salto has worked with many famous artists, among them Rihanna, Pitbull, Wiwek and recently Sander Van Doorn with their single ’Tribal'.
Fight Club, out of New York, is a big exponent in the moombahton and jungle terror genre. Their hit ‘Rude boi’ was a huge hit last year worldwide. Island Heritage Festival will be held on Saturday, June 4th, 2016, from 4pm to 1am, and admission age is 18 years up. Pre-sale tickets are Awg 25, and on June 4th at the door Awg 35. Pre-sale locations are: Bula Surf Shop; Local Store; Pos Chuiquito Rum Shop; Trash by Ronchi; and Pelican Pier.
