Smiles, cheers, and an award banquet marked the end of the day, as Arion Wine Company, Wente Vineyards & Papiamento Golf Tournament concluded Saturday’s evening activities, following a full day of much-enjoyed play, with a 12:30pm shotgun start.
Participants were treated to a sumptuous lunch prepared by Papiamento Restaurant, paired with nicely chilled bottles of Wente Vineyards wine, while on the course.
At sunset, the award banquet at Tierra Del Sol, on the pool deck overlooking the California lighthouse, announced the winners of the competition: Jose Luis Camara & Chris Nedd in the first place, Hunt Riley & Evan Haime, in second, and Pierre Rafini & Greg Martis, in third.
Eric Wente, Chairman of the board of Wente Vineyards, California’s oldest continuously operated family-owned winery, founded in 1883, was on hand to present the winners with winery prizes, and thank participants and sponsors for their dedication and generosity, for the 16th year in a row.
While players enjoyed a buffet of soups and sandwiches Govert van der Hout, Arion Wine Company, and Director of Golf, James Kiley, of Tierra del Sol, helped hand the prizes to three pairs of top winners, as well as to closest to the pin winners on holes #3, #7, #13, #15, and #17, William v/Ramshorst, Gian Pietersz, Orland Rasmijn, Dante leandi and Hunt Riley.
Arion Wine Company organizes the exciting tournament annually, with the active participation of Eric Wente, of Wente Vineyards, as the golf tournament host. Together with Papiamento restaurant, and the Ellis family, the partners present a multi-tiered event over the course of one weekend each April.
