Boxing Day is an official Aruban holiday.
Boxing Day is an official holiday in Aruba. This is a Dutch tradition originating in the colonial days. All offices and shops are closed. The hotels, their facilities and most restaurants and bars will be open as usual. A lot of restaurants serve special Christmas menus and reserving a table is recommended, because Christmas and New Year are one of the busiest days in Aruba.
Christmas in Aruba is a fantastic time to enjoy the island. The air is a little crisper and the island shows her greenest fauna. Take a stroll in the evening and enjoy all the decorated houses, roundabouts and gardens transforming Aruba into a tropical (winter) wonderland!
During the holiday season you can attend Christmas mass in one of the many churches and chapels. Don't forget to visit the special Christmas show in Seroe Preto in San Nicolas. Here you will find the biggest Christmas lights show on the island and the main attraction during the holidays!
